Twinkling H20's are in

Twinkling H20's are little cakes of shimmering water color paint. The paints are sold in individual pots which are sold either in kits or separately. The paints are available in 156 colors and they can be mixed and blended to create a further pallet of colors. Twinkling H2O's come in two size pots, large (5 grams - regular size) and minis (Little Twinklers). Individual Twinkling H20 colors are available in the large size only. Kits are available with a mix of 6, 12 or 24 of the large size pots.

These colors can be used on a variety of surfaces and these include paper and cardstock, wood, plastic and even eggs - and they are ideal for many altered art projects. Some projects may require sealing when finished.

Twinkling H20's are made in America by LuminArte who also manufacture the Primary Elements range of paints.

How Are Twinkling H20's Used?

Twinkling H20's can be used in the same way as any watercolor paint and different stampers have their own favorite way to use these shimmering colors. The paint cakes can be moistened and the paint used direct from the pot, or the color can be blended and mixed on a plate or pallet.

The colors are highly pigmented giving strong and vibrant colors. These can be blended with water for lighter shades. LuminArte have developed a color that is ideal for blending to lighten colors, this is called 'Oyster' and will lighten the color while still keeping the distinctive shimmer. The colors can also be blended with other water color paint such as tempura or gouache, however this will also decrease the level of shimmer in the paint.

Twinkling H20's can be applied using paint brushes - or can also be applied direct to the rubber stamp and stamped onto paper or cardstock.

Ways that Twinking H20's can be used:
  • As backgrounds for stamping projects, this can then be stamped on as normal
  • To color in rubber stamped images
  • Applied over embossed images
  • Added to wet paper to create a soft image
  • Paint onto dark papers for a dramatic look

Having a Blast with the Girls at Camp

Day 3 of the Girls Summer Scrapbook and Papercraft Camp and still having fun!  I must admit the first day was a bit trying for them.  They spent most of the time cutting paper.  I will definitely be cutting and prepping more for the next crew to keep things rolling along.

The girls have been amazing.  Two of the girls have never even scrapbooked before, never mind using a 12" cutter!  They have all picked out their own papers for each project.  They coordinated them beautifully.  I was blown away by how nice their first 3 projects turned out.

I was so immersed with them the first 2 days I totally forgot to take pictures.  I managed to take a few today.  Today they were working on their Banners and Altered Paint Cans. We still have room for the next few sessions if you know anyone that would be interested.

Tomorrow we work on a 6x6 Explosion Album.  They have already picked out their papers.  I just finished cutting everything for them so tomorrow we will wrap up the left overs from the previous projects and complete a beautiful mini book that they can treasure forever!

Girls Summer Scrapbooking and Papercrafting Camp

Camp will run for 4 days, Tuesday - Friday.  We will have two sessions a day. The first session will be from 10am-12pm.  The second session will be from 2-4pm.  This camp is geared towards girl tweens that are a minimum of 10 years old.   We are limiting each session to only 6 girls.

I have a ton of projects I'd love to do. Whether or not we get to all of them will be based on the children's abilities. I have 4 main projects I would like to be able to complete with them with additional smaller projects for those that finish the main project and have time to spare.  Our main project will be an 8x8 "All about Me" chipboard album that will be created from scratch.  We will be using different scrapbooking techniques in the project. The completed album will have 10 pages.

Based on the time left our next project will be a 6 panel banner based on family.  We will then create an altered paint can.  Another project will be an Explosion Album that they will create in camp to be decorated at home.

The girls must be able to use scissors and work independently with minimal assistance(no Mommies by their side).  They will be cutting their own papers using paper trimmers, die cut machines and scissors.

Registration is $120.00 and must be paid 1 week prior to the session beginning.  You can register for only one of the following weeks in either the morning or afternoon sessions:

1st Week – July 5-8.  Registration will close June 29
2nd Week – July 12-15.  Registration will close July 6.
3rd Week – July 19-22.  Registration will close July 13
4th Week – July 26 – 29.  Registration will close July 20.

The registration fee is non-refundable.  Registration is now open.  Please call 631-580-1118 to register today.

Please send your child with pictures that cover some of these themes.  Do not give your child the originals, they might be cutting them.

Mini Book for a Victorian Tea Bridal Shower

Hi everyone.  Just wanted to share book I finished for a woman giving her daughter a Victorian Tea Bridal Shower.  This woman collects antique tea sets and is giving away a cup and saucer to each guest as the favor.  She asked me to create a special book for her to give to her daughter to remember the occasion.  There is an invitation page, 7 pages with images of different vintage tea cups. The tea bag tags are for each guest to write a sentiment for the bride-to-be.  I used the Silhouette Machine to create the tags and I used Tim Holtz's Tiny Attacher stapler to attach the string.  It worked great.  The staples are nice and tiny. There are also eight pages for the bride to be to record the gifts she received.

For the actual book I used an 8x8 Cover-All from Bind-it-All.  These are great if you don't want to see the wire binding.  I did use paper to cover the entire book cover.  For the inside I used chipboard that I covered and then bound with the Bind-it-All.  The papers used to create the book are from digital images.

Although it is hard to see the pink flowers, teapot and canister are all dimensional.  I fussy cut all the petals of the flowers and then popped them with pieces of pop dots.  The cream flowers on the cover are the flowers from Petaloo that I just got in the store.  Aren't they just gorgeous!

Here are some pictures of the finished product. I'd love to know what you think.
